The organic mandarin farm is located in Zhejiang Province. The organic mandarin trees are grown on small islands in the 1000 Island lake, famous for its’ clean water. The organic islands cover an area of 59 ha. Each island is owned by a family; grandparents, uncles, aunts and children all taking care of the fruits. It is these families with who NOW cooperates.

Around ten years ago these families saw some mandarin trees growing by themselves in the wild. After monitoring the trees they saw they grew quite easily without any problems.This was the moment that they decided to plant more trees and to cultivate them.

‘Enzyme - Processing’                                   
In conventional processing of canned mandarins, processors use harmful chemicals for the environment to remove the white membranes. The organic regulation stipulates that alternatives should be used. After long research at NOW, it was concluded that the best alternative is the use of enzymes.
